HISTORY/DOCUMENTATION
This BMW Z1 Roadster was built in 1991, when it would have been “Magic Violett” according to the colour codes. In 1994, the car was delivered new in Germany by the BMW dealer in Hamburg. It is noteworthy that the BMW was delivered new in the (equally rare) colour “Pur Blau”. The car was probably less marketable in purple, so the dealer changed its colour. A total of 228 cars were produced in Magic Violet (and 193 in Pur Blau Metallic). After spending its life in Germany, the Z1 was first registered with Dutch number plates in 2004. It eventually came into the possession of the previous owner in 2011, who has cherished it for the remaining 12 years. This is also reflected in the current condition of the BMW. An appraisal report describes its overall condition as very good.

In terms of documentation, several papers are available, such as:
- Service booklet
- Various manuals
- Invoices/bills
- Inspections
- Valuation report
- Other information

EXTERIOR
in the colour “pur-blau-metallic” with a grey leather/fabric interior. Only 193 examples were produced in this body colour. The paintwork is in good condition. There is no damage and the body seams are fitting. Both the bodywork and the underside are rust-free. The original 16-inch alloy wheels can be found under the car. The soft top is also in good condition with no damage.

INTERIOR
The interior is also in very good condition with no damage. Inside the car, you are greeted by two bucket seats. These are made of half leather and fabric with a camouflage pattern. Leather accents can be found throughout the interior. In addition, there is a 3-spoke leather steering wheel, together with a wooden gear lever and a windscreen. In the boot, there is a spare wheel together with the original tools.

TECHNICAL
The well-known M20 2.5-litre inline-6 engine provides the power. It delivered 171 hp at 5,800 rpm and 218 Nm of torque. The car is equipped with a five-speed manual gearbox and could reach 225 km/h. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h took 7.8 seconds. The engine runs well and the gearbox shifts smoothly. The BMW has ABS and the timing belt was replaced at 56,470 km. The car has been well maintained, as evidenced by the many maintenance invoices that come with the car.

GENERAL
The BMW Z1 was designed in 1986 by Harm Lagaay. Exactly 8,000 units of the car, which was presented in 1987, were produced between 1989 and 1991. More than three quarters of these were sold on the domestic market in Germany. The most striking feature of this car was the doors, which could be retracted into the bodywork. The bodywork is made entirely of thermoplastic, moulded into body panels by General Electric. The car was also the first in the world to achieve 1g in corners with standard tyres, partly due to the inverted wing profile of the bonnet and the transversely mounted exhaust, which also had an inverted wing profile. Initially, only 4,000 Z1s were to be produced, but once the car arrived at the dealers, there were already more than 5,000 orders, and it was decided to double production to 8,000 units.
