Because of Herbert Austin's approach to construction, there is no such thing as a standard Austin 7 as, from 1923, they were built in large numbers and in many different body styles. It is not surprising that they were often also raced at both circuit and trials. From that day to this, they are still widely enjoyed both as standard and in modified form, as this charming example represents. Nicknamed the Baby Austin, the Austin 7 was manufactured between 1922 and 1939. Herbert Austin's concept was to provide a small car that would meet the needs of aspiring families to own an affordable motor car. It was one of the most popular models produced for the British market and also sold well abroad. When production ceased in 1939, 290,000 cars and vans had been produced.

This delightful little Austin 7 Ruby presents well in two-tone maroon and black with a black interior. Quite remarkably, the car has only had five registered keepers in the past 90 years! We can't say a huge amount about the history of the car, as the maintenance bills and restoration invoices were sadly misplaced by a previous keeper, but it's clear to see some restoration work has been carried out in the past and the car presents well overall. Some recommissioning should be expected as the car hasn't seen much use for the past few years, but its been stored well and should be ready to enjoy again fairly swifly! Supplied with a V5C registration document, a few old club letters and copies of an owner's manual. Consigned by Fraser Smith
