1970 | Austin-Healey Sprite Mk IV

This very smart, usable Austin Healey Sprite has had just one owner for the past 44 years. Now not getting the use it deserves, we have collected the car from the Sildsden area and have been entrusted to find a new home for the car. Back in 1981, its long term owners business purchased the Healey Sprite. It was found under cover at a Bradford farm and it was purchased on impulse. It had been stored for a number of years and laid up with a mileage of almost 66,000. On initial purchase the Sprite was put through and MOT test on June 2nd 1983 and a comprehensive file of MOT certificates confirm the Austin Healey has covered almost 10,000 miles over the last 44 years - mileage now 75,500. With occasional, low mileage use the Sprite had proven a reliable, strong driving classic ideal for summer months and it wasn't until the 2000's when the car required work. The car was stripped down, it was treated to new floors and completely re-painted. The car also had the engine checked and converted onto unleaded and having not been used for the past couple of years, we intend to service it, and re-commission the brakes for its next owner.

Under the bonnet lies a very strong , fit 1275cc A-Series four-cylinder engine holding impressive oil pressure. It provides a beautiful noise throughout the rev range and with the car's light curb weight and direct handling its makes for a lively, fun driving experience on twisty roads. The engine's raspy exhaust note adds tremendous character and the four-speed manual gearbox feels absolutely correct going through the gears. The suspension set up delivers a firm but responsive ride. The front brake discs and rear drum brakes provide brilliant stopping power for the chirpy and lightweight sportscar.
