Description

The Aston Martin DB4 was announced at the London Motor Show in 1958. This all new model featured a four-seater body designed by Touring of Milan, using their patented “Superleggera” system. This construction method encompassed alloy panels, fixed to a tubular frame, built onto a strong steel platform chassis. In June 1963, the DB4 ended production with a total of 1110 cars (70 being convertibles), split over 5 distinct series.

The car being offered by us today is the more powerful DB4 Series 4 Vantage (1 of just 45 cars), which featured three SU HD8 carburettors with an airbox, increased compression ratio and larger valves. This configuration is referred to as the Special Series engine (/SS), which offered 10% more power than the standard car, and used technology developed by Aston Martin for the DB4 GT. Furthermore, most of the Vantage cars produced had faired in headlamps but this car was manufactured with the traditional DB4 front body style.

Supplied new by Brooklands of Bond Street, the build of this DB4 Vantage was completed on the 26th September 1962. This matching numbers example has been fully restored by Aston Engineering and was completed in July 2017. Presented in its original factory colour combination of Caribbean Pearl with Red Connolly Vaumol trim and Wilton carpet. Original factory optional extras retained today, include: Special Series engine, oil cooler and DB4GT instrument panel.

Additional upgrades now include: 4.7Ltr engine, overdrive gearbox, handling kit, Borrani wire wheels, air conditioning, electronic power steering and a Becker Mexico radio. The ultimate specification of DB4 ready to be used and enjoyed.
