This Alfa Romeo 2600 Sprint is fitted with a 6-cylinder engine. According to Wikipedia, just under 6,402 examples of this two-door coupé were produced by Bertone.
From 1962 onwards, Bertone fitted these models with a 150 hp engine. The top speed of 200 km/h achieved with this engine was outstanding for its time. As standard, this engine also features the original three-barrel carburettors. These have been cleaned, repaired and synchronised.
Our example is already fitted with the disc brakes on the front and rear axles, which were introduced with the 1963 model update.
This Alfa Romeo 2600 Sprint has had two previous owners and has already undergone extensive restoration. The engine was overhauled as part of the restoration work. The Solex carburettors and all mechanical components were refurbished. All expenditure, totalling over €38,000, is documented with invoices from 2019 to 2022.
During the restoration, great importance was placed on preserving the original fabric. The leather will quickly delight ‘patina fans’. The seats have been reupholstered and skilfully repaired. The bodywork requires some attention in places, mainly due to small stress cracks in the paintwork.
In addition to the extensive invoices and the work consequently carried out on this Alfa Romeo 2600 Sprint, there is also an assessment at 80,094 km in Condition 2.
Given the limited production run of these models bearing the ‘Sprint’ moniker, there are not many left on offer worldwide. Some examples are in a condition requiring restoration. Those in good condition are already commanding prices well above the original new price of 25,000 DM.
