At the same time, important limitations remain transparent: Matching Numbers, Matching Colors and the originality of the Abarth components have not been independently verified, and the expert report referred to by the seller has not been reviewed. Following the extended period of storage, a technical inspection is also required before further use. This vehicle should therefore be regarded primarily as a characterful historic Abarth conversion with a remarkably well-documented international history – and not as an unquestionably factory-original 1000 TC.
A Fiat 600 is small. An Abarth based on one nevertheless feels enormous in spirit: little weight, an engine at the rear and that wonderful seriousness with which ordinary cars were once transformed into competition machines. What I find particularly fascinating here is not any claim to perfect provenance, but the genuinely documented journey through four countries and several continents. A small car with an remarkably big history.
