History of the Series

Die Modellreihe 964 des Porsche 911 wurde von 1989 bis 1994 produziert und war eine bedeutende Weiterentwicklung des Vorgängermodells, des 911 G-Modells. Einige der bemerkenswertesten Merkmale des 964 waren die Einführung des Allradantriebs (Carrera 4) und die Verfügbarkeit eines automatischen Tiptronic-Getriebes.

In Bezug auf das Design behielt der 964 viele klassische Elemente des 911 bei, erhielt jedoch auch einige moderne Updates. Dazu gehörten eine leicht abgerundete Karosserie und ein überarbeitetes Interieur. Serienmodelle waren der Carrera 2, Carrera 4, Speedster und der Turbo.

Als Sonderserien gab es darüber hinaus den Carrera RS, Carrera RS 3.8 und den Turbo S. Der 964 war ein großer Erfolg für Porsche und legte den Grundstein für die folgenden Modellreihen des 911. Er wird von vielen Porsche-Enthusiasten als eine der besten Varianten des 911 angesehen, da er die perfekte Balance zwischen Tradition und Innovation bietet.
