As the successor to the "Pagoda," known internally as the W113, the R107 had a challenging legacy to live up to. It appeared as the 350SL with the small 8-cylinder engine as early as 1971 and, with numerous facelifts, remained in the lineup for 18 years – a clear testament to its high design potential.

Over the course of these 18 years of production, it was available with 6 and 8 cylinders in a variety of engine variants, from the 280SL (1974-1985) to the 560SL (from 1985). Our 420 SL was produced in 1988. The high-displacement 8-cylinder delivers powerful acceleration in every gear – all directly and with a subtle V8 sound.

The car has been regularly serviced according to the manufacturer's specifications (a service booklet and a folder of receipts are included) and lovingly and painstakingly preserved in top condition. The soft top is new, the underbody was ice-blasted and sealed (time max), the paintwork was nano-sealed, a stainless steel exhaust system was installed, and the upholstery was renewed. The current condition truly corresponds to that of a well-maintained one-year-old car.

The quality of the body and paintwork is impressive. All lines and gaps are perfectly aligned, and the flatness of all body panels is as good as new. The interior appears as good as new. Everything is in clean, immaculate condition. The firm seats are almost as good as new. The dashboard is crack-free, as are all the woodwork. Climb aboard and feel at home!

Driving this SL, equipped with the powerful 4.2-liter V8 and the perfectly geared automatic transmission, is a dream!
