This incredibly special UK RHD Home Market Mercedes 280 SE 3.5 was first registered on the 25th January 1972 has been subject to a comprehensive restoration ahead of the 2017 Men’ Fashion Week in London. The restoration project was imagined by GQ Magazines Creative Director Patrick Grant to ferry VIPs to and from shows throughout the week. With the assistance of Mercedes-Benz UK, the project was delivered on time for the shoot having undergone a bare metal repaint and variety of modifications.

London Fashion Week was the end date for the project, therefore GQ only had 8-months to get the car finished before the celebrations began of the 5th anniversary of the event. To have the car looking its best for the shoot, in addition to the many expensive upgrades, the Mercedes Benz was stripped back to its bare-shell and repainted in its original two-tone Moss Green and Black paint. The braking system was reconditioned with new brake lines, rebuilt calipers, and new master cylinder. The cooling system was overhauled featuring a new radiator, electric fan, and an automatic cut-in. Air-Lift Performance were responsible for recreating the suspension paying homage to the original concept sketches by Mercedes of the 280. The Beck Europa head unit was converted to a modern Bluetooth system along with upgraded speakers and subwoofer providing immense audio. Lloyd Specialist Development provided the ECU and standalone management system for the fuelling providing better economy and reliability than the original mechanical fuel injection system. The total costs for the upgrades of this project were in excess of £44,000 and the result is something truly remarkable.

Inside the Mercedes Benz 280SE you are welcomed by hand carved, traditional scroll designed door handles by Ray Ward Gunmakers. The head lining is made from beautiful silk supplied by Norton & Sons of Saville Row, chosen as the patterned material was made the same year as the Mercedes. In addition to the headlining, the silk is found throughout the cabin, carefully cladding the ash trays and featuring on the door cards. Chapman and Cliff, the Rolls Royce specialists took the woodwork from the interior and re-veneered the wood in black-stained ash. For your luggage the aforementioned bespoke leather case was carefully made by the British luggage designers Globe-Trotter who have been in the business for over twelve decades.

CBH 92K is an incredibly unique car, it has been rebuilt with no expense spared and its presented in quite simply, exquisite condition. On the road this Mercedes Benz is second to none, it offers impressive performance, handling and comfort and is very much, unrepeatable.
