The Dodge Challenger Black Ghost (often referred to as a special-edition of the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Wide body. The Black Ghost edition pays homage to a legendary 1970 Dodge Challenger RT/SE (owned by Godfrey Qualls) that became known as the “Black Ghost” for dominating Detroit’s Woodward Avenue street-racing scene in the 1970s and is part of the brand’s “Last Call” special-edition series, marking the outgoing era of the Challenger in its current form.
Under the long, sculpted hood lurks a supercharged 6.2-litre HEMI V8, growling out 807 horsepower, enough to twist the earth beneath it. Mated to an 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic, this beast launches like a rocket, its rear tires clawing at the tarmac leaving the kind of twin stripes that make car enthusiasts grin. The 3.09 rear axle ratio, the widebody stance, and the massive 20×11-inch Satin Carbon “Warp Speed” wheels give it the posture of a predator ready to pounce. Black six-piston Brembo brakes stand by to rein it in.
It's paint in Pitch Black but what sets it apart is the “gator skin” vinyl roof, a textured tribute to the original ’70s car, which wore the same pattern like battle armor. A white “Challenger” stripe slices across the rear fender, a ghostly accent against the darkness. Chrome accents on the fuel door, hood pins, and DODGE lettering, echoing the days when muscle cars weren’t just fast, but proud. The “Black Ghost” badge on the rear tells the world this is no ordinary Hellcat it’s one of only 300 ever made.
Slip inside, and the scent of Alcantara and Laguna leather fills the air. The steering wheel, wrapped in suede with a crimson SRT logo. Carbon fibre trim glistens subtly in the dim cabin light, while a small instrument panel plaque quietly declares the name.
The 2023 Black Ghost is part of Dodge’s “Last Call” the final salute to the Challenger and Charger as pure gasoline-powered muscle cars before electrification takes over. It’s both a farewell and a celebration of one last wild burn out before the lights go out on an era.
