Preserved BMW 3 Series "Coupé" with extremely low mileage
BMW introduced the second generation of the 3 Series, the "E30," back in 1982.
In its first iteration, the so-called pre-facelift model (VFL), the E30 was still equipped with period-typical chrome trim, which suits the car very well and gives it a classic look. Great engines, fantastic handling, and high everyday usability make the E30 one of the most sought-after classic cars of the 1980s and 1990s.
Even the four-cylinder 316i and 318i models convey typical BMW driving dynamics and impress, especially on winding country roads, with exemplary steering precision, responsive turn-in and cornering behavior, and engaging, powerful engines. Despite their still considerable practical value, these vehicles deliver classic BMW "Sheer Driving Pleasure," entirely without the excess equipment typical of today.
Our 318i was first registered in July 1987, making it one of the last pre-facelift models. It is therefore still equipped with the legendary M10 B18 four-cylinder engine, which, unlike its successor (M40), features a timing chain, thus eliminating the need for frequent timing belt changes. What is truly special about this car, however, is its extremely low total mileage of only around 33,000 kilometers and the evidently meticulous care it received within a family (a transfer of ownership from mother to daughter is documented).
The BMW is visibly completely rust-free, the paintwork is in excellent condition, and the entire body is straight, with perfect surface transitions and panel gaps. The A- and B-pillars, door bottoms, the area around the trunk seal, the trunk and engine compartment, as well as all wheel arches, are clean and look like they belong to a nearly new car.
The same applies to the interior. Everywhere you look, everything looks almost brand new. Seat covers, upholstery, door panels, carpets, dashboard, headliner: Has it all been restored? No, it's all original and in pristine condition.
And... unsurprisingly, the BMW drives just as well. It starts immediately and runs and drives flawlessly in every respect. The automatic transmission harmonizes perfectly with the powerful four-cylinder engine, making the drive a relaxed pleasure.
The windshield is set far back from the driver, and the large windows provide superb all-around visibility and a sense of spaciousness that modern vehicles often lack. It's truly difficult to get out of this fantastic E30 after a delightful drive.
We've fitted the BMW with new 16-inch cross-spoke alloy wheels and new summer tires. The original steel wheels and hubcaps are included.
