1997 | Volkswagen Golf III 2.0 GTI "Edition"

The Golf III GTi '20 Jahre' edition is a limited run of 1000 special GTi Anniversary models and available in both three-door and five-door configurations, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the respected model. Exterior features include red stripes on the bumpers, red brake calipers, 16-inch BBS alloy wheels with split rims, twin stainless steel rear exhaust pipes and smoked glass for the fog lights, indicators and rear lights. Inside this limited edition model includes chequered Recaro sports seats in the front and matching rear seats with GTi logos, red seat belts, a half-chrome and leather “golf ball” gear knob, some red stitching, silver-coloured dials on the instrument panel and floor mats with red piping.

This particular example must be one of the best still in existence. It is perfectly maintained and in stunning original condition. The body is still in the original factory first paintwork without any significant signs of use or wear. The interior looks and smells like new and without any modifications. The car comes with a full VW-dealer stamped service book and the timing belt is recently replaced as well as the airconditioning refilled. This GTi was originally delivered to the first German owner by Volkswagen-Audi dealer Scherer in October 1997, and only had 4 owners since. It is absolutely rust- and accident-free, and the low mileage is verifiably documented. All factory stamps and stickers are still present as well, and so are all books and tools.

The Golf GTi is the only true original hot hatch, and this '20 Jahre' edition is already a limited version in itself. However, this particular model is even more special because it is still completely original and feels like a car that is only a few years old. Most of these cars have now been completely worn out, so finding one in this fantastic original condition is very unusual and rare. Truly one for the real connoisseur.
