The Volkswagen Beetle is one of those cars that almost everyone has a memory of. Perhaps your neighbors had one years ago. Maybe you took family vacations in one as a child. Whatever the story, the Beetle almost always brings a smile to people's faces. And when it happens to be a Cabriolet, that smile usually becomes even bigger.
Volkswagen began producing open versions of the Beetle shortly after the Second World War, but it was coachbuilder Karmann who ultimately became responsible for the Cabriolet as most people know it today. While the closed Beetle continued to evolve over the years, the Cabriolet evolved alongside it. Perhaps even more importantly, it remained in production long after German production of the closed Beetle had already come to an end. That alone says a great deal about the enduring popularity of this model.
The 1303 arrived during the 1970s as the final and most highly developed version of the Beetle. It featured a redesigned front suspension with MacPherson struts and a larger front luggage compartment, giving the car a more modern driving character without sacrificing everything that made the Beetle instantly recognizable. Fortunately, its iconic silhouette remained completely intact.
A Beetle Cabriolet has never been about outright performance. That was never its purpose. Its appeal lies elsewhere: relaxed motoring, open-top driving, wonderfully straightforward controls, and the feeling that every journey becomes just a little more enjoyable. Even the shortest drive quickly feels like a special occasion. Perhaps that is the Beetle's greatest strength.
The example we are offering today demonstrates just how exceptional a restoration can be when quality is the guiding principle. As for its condition, we can be brief. Wherever you look, this Volkswagen presents at an exceptionally high standard. From the bodywork to the interior, from the mechanical components to the finishing details, this is a truly magnificent Beetle. We invite you to browse the extensive photo gallery on our website for a closer impression.
The body was completely restored by a renowned Dutch specialist, and the quality of the workmanship is evident throughout. The finish, the panel fit, and the overall presentation immediately leave an outstanding impression.
Mechanically, the car has also been comprehensively rebuilt. The major components have been fully overhauled and reassembled, with great care taken to preserve the Beetle's original character. As a result, this Beetle is an absolute pleasure to drive.
The color combination deserves special mention as well. Finished in Greige with a dark brown leather interior, it presents a combination that is rarely seen. It is understated, elegant, and complements the Beetle's distinctive rounded lines remarkably well.
Many Beetle Cabriolets were built, but finding a 1303 Cabriolet restored and finished to this standard is a rare occasion. In fact, you notice it the moment you first set eyes on it. Interested?
