Hexagon Classics are delighted to offer this restored super version of the rare Porsche 911 2.2T Targa. With just 3 keepers from new, this is a prime matching numbers and original paint colour example of an F series Porsche that deserves serious collectors’ interest. With huge recent expenditure by its previous keeper, this 2.2T Targa looks every inch the classic 911.

For the D-Series production cycle, Porsche optimized the 911’s iconic air-cooled power unit by increasing the engine displacement to 2,195cc (commonly known as the 2.2L) by widening the cylinder bore from 80mm to 84mm. Built utilizing robust magnesium-alloy crankcases, these free-revving powerplants are highly praised for their light weight and distinct mechanical character. Operating on period-correct dual Zenith 40 TIN triple-choke carburettors with a balanced 8.6:1 compression ratio, factory power output sits at a sweet 125 hp at 5,800 rpm alongside a flexible 130 lb/ft of torque at 4,200 rpm.

This example features the highly desirable, stronger 915/02 5-speed manual gearbox. Originally introduced by Porsche for greater torque capacity, it ditches the older "dog-leg" layout for a conventional H-pattern, making it significantly easier and more precise to use on modern roads. Paired with a sleek front spoiler which drastically reduces front-end lift at speed, this 2.2T manages high-speed touring with absolute stability.

Our 911 2.2T Targa was originally supplied new by Porsche Portland USA, in 1971.

Under previous ownership, the Targa won the PCGB Pride of Ownership in Sep'19, competed in the PCGB National Concours in Oct'19, claiming the 'Competitors Choice' award; and has claimed 3rd and 2nd place at Porsche R8 annual concours events in '21/'22.

Our car also comes complete with invoices chronicling the recent maintenance.
