The Porsche 356 B, introduced in September 1959, was the second generation of the 356 series, following the 356 A. It featured updated styling, improved safety features, and a more refined ride. In September 1961, the B evolved into the T6, offering a revised nose with a larger, squared-off front boot lid, the gas filler lid being relocated to the top of the right-front wing, and the addition of a second grille panel to the engine lid. All 356s were also available in open-top versions, and several engine options were offered: 60hp, the 75hp Super, the Super 90, and, of course, the rarely seen Carrera, all with 1,600-cubic centimetre capacity. The Super 90 offered, as its name would suggest, 90bhp from its OHV air-cooled flat 4-cylinder engine, aided by twin Solex carburettors. All 356s featured four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes, until the 356 C in 1963.
Featuring beautiful maroon paintwork and a tan leather interior, this 1962 example has been in the care of our vendor since 1989, and he is parting ways with it due to ill health. Porsche's 356 Cabriolets were luxurious touring machines, with plush interiors, and this example is no exception. Garage-stored and carefully maintained in Paris for many years, the car has remained UK-registered throughout. Our vendor states that the car retains its original engine. Today it offers an exciting opportunity to collectors and enthusiasts alike, as only 700 were believed to have been produced, so this 356 is not to be missed. Consigned by Charlie McCreery
