Description
This impressive looking 1970 MGB GT is presented as a well-sorted and highly capable rally specification, originally purchased with the intention of competing in events such as LEJOT or Monte Classique. Unfortunately, work commitments have prevented its use in competition, but the car remains fully prepared and ready for immediate action. The vehicle benefits from a thorough and well-documented seven-year rebuild by its previous owner, supported by extensive photographic evidence and a consistent MoT history, which also supports the belief that the mileage is genuine. More recently, the car has been used on touring events, where it has been further sorted and proven to be reliable. This MGB GT is effectively a 'turnkey' rally car, ready to be used immediately with no additional preparation required. The specification is extensive including sump guard, mud flaps, bonnet pins, full harness seat belts, fire extinguisher, Cibie Oscar-style spot lamps, Lucas reversing light, Minilite-style alloy wheels with good tyres, plus four spare alloy wheels with good tyres. Additional rally equipment includes roll bar (not full cage), navigator's footrest, flexilight, Brantz tripmeter with remote reset, Mountney steering wheel, door mirrors, and an electrical cut-off switch. Mechanically, the engine remains standard but has been rebuilt and reworked, running twin SU carburettors and delivering strong, responsive performance. Further enhancements include a new clutch, new brakes, new master cylinder, electronic ignition, and a reconditioned gearbox fitted with overdrive on 3rd and 4th gears.
