Toen MG in 1955 de MGA presenteerde, brak het merk radicaal met het vooroorlogse beeld van de T-serie. Het gestroomlijnde koetswerk was getekend door Syd Enever en vond zijn oorsprong in een speciale racecarrosserie voor Le Mans, wat de MGA meteen een moderne, sportieve uitstraling gaf. De auto werd een enorm succes en groeide uit tot een van de meest geliefde Britse roadsters ooit gebouwd. Deze MGA uit 1961 wordt aangedreven door de 1600cc viercilinder, hier voorzien van een aluminium radiateur. Bijzonder is de handgeschakelde vijfversnellingsbak, een zeer welkome upgrade die de auto op langere afstanden een stuk ontspannener maakt. De schijfremmen voor zorgen voor overtuigende remprestaties. Van dit exemplaar is de onderhoudshistorie tevens bekend.
Het zwarte lakwerk geeft deze MGA een strakke, klassieke uitstraling en laat de vloeiende lijnen en de karakteristieke ronde vormen mooi tot hun recht komen. De gespoten spaakwielen versterken het sportieve karakter, terwijl het bagagerek en de extra koplampen voor de auto een heerlijk avontuurlijke, rally-achtige signatuur meegeven. De grijze soft top met zijraampjes maakt het geheel af en zorgt ervoor dat de auto ook bij minder mooi weer inzetbaar is. Binnenin contrasteert het rode interieur fraai met de zwarte lak, een combinatie die typisch is voor de Britse roadsters uit deze periode en die de MGA een warme, sfeervolle uitstraling geeft. When MG presented the MGA in 1955, the brand broke radically with the pre-war image of the T-series. The streamlined bodywork was designed by Syd Enever and originated from a special racing body for Le Mans, which immediately gave the MGA a modern, sporty look. The car became a huge success and grew into one of the most beloved British roadsters ever built. This 1961 MGA is powered by the 1600cc four-cylinder, here fitted with an aluminium radiator. A notable feature is the five-speed manual gearbox, a very welcome upgrade that makes driving the car much more relaxed on longer distances. The front disc brakes ensure convincing braking performance. The maintenance history for this particular example is also known.
The black paintwork gives this MGA a sleek, classic look and beautifully showcases the flowing lines and characteristic rounded shapes. The painted wire wheels reinforce the sporty character, while the luggage rack and extra headlights give the car a wonderfully adventurous, rally-style signature. The grey soft top with side windows completes the look and ensures the car can be used even in less favorable weather.
