Hilton & Moss are delighted to present this exceptional 1950 Jaguar XK120 OTS Competition, chassis 660294, with significant period competition history including its appearance at the 1952 Jersey International Road Race.
Originally supplied to Jersey and owned by Bob Sangan, President of the Jersey Motor Cycle & Light Car Club, this XK120 established its competition credentials with a class victory at the Bouley Bay Speed Hill-Climb in 1951 before being driven by Frank Le Gallais at the Jersey International Road Race the following year, finishing eighth in the large-capacity sports car class against an impressive field of contemporary competition machinery. Further campaigned by Sangan, including another podium finish at Bouley Bay in 1954, the car retains a fascinating connection to the early days of Jaguar motorsport.
Returning to the UK in 1957 and passing through a number of owners, 660294 would find its way into the hands of Mr. Geoffrey Charlton in 1974 where it would be assigned with the registration GEF 120, which the car still wears today.
In more recent times, this XK120 achieved a podium finish in its class at the 2026 Bernina Gran Turismo, further adding to its competition credentials.
Most recently acquired in 2020, chassis 660294 subsequently underwent a comprehensive restoration by renowned Jaguar racing specialists CKL Developments, with the objective of returning the car to its authentic period competition appearance. Finished in its original Cream paintwork with period race numbers, hand-painted Union Jack flags, aero screens and steel wheels with hubcaps, the restoration has been guided by surviving archival photographs of its Jersey racing history.
The cars original engine has been rebuilt to CKL’s Fast Road competition specification, retaining the all-important early 2-inch sandcast SU carburettors and complemented by a synchromesh five-speed gearbox, with the original gearbox retained and supplied with the car. Further enhancements include Alfin brake drums, uprated suspension bushings, competition bucket seats and carefully considered improvements to aide driver and passenger comfort, all executed with an emphasis on preserving the car’s character and period authenticity. The restoration encompassed a bare-chassis rebuild, the necessary coachwork repairs and a complete bare-metal respray.
Matching numbers and accompanied by a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, this outstanding XK120 also offers exciting opportunities for historic motoring and competition. Its period racing history and specification make it a strong candidate as a FIVA registered vehicle, supporting eligibility for prestigious historic events and Concours such as the 1000 Miglia, Goodwood Revival, London Concours and Motor Racing Legends (MRL) race meetings, to name just a few.
Hilton & Moss are also in the privileged position of being able to offer a comprehensive 1000 Miglia support package with this Jaguar. With the ability to provide a guaranteed entry - essential for the upcoming centenary edition of the Mille Miglia in 2027 - alongside a dedicated and fully inclusive support package before, during and after the event itself. Anyone wishing to embark on this special once-in-a-lifetime experience can do so with complete confidence, backed by the Hilton & Moss team.
