The vehicle underwent an extensive and professional restoration in Barcelona in 2009, and detailed documentation is available. Particular emphasis was placed on reliability as a touring car during development. In addition to the harmonious luggage rack, the E-Type features rally instruments and a sophisticated air conditioning system. The original appearance has been preserved, particularly in the interior and engine compartment.
I purchased the car directly from Mendiata Sports Cars in Barcelona in 2015. The previous owner, a photographer from Madrid, had only used the car in Barcelona and had it serviced and stored in the Mendiata Sports Car garage throughout this period. Some technical improvements were made to the car there between 2011 and 2015, and these are documented in the photo sequence below.
The vehicle has low mileage since restoration and has undergone continuous servicing by a workshop. It is ready for immediate use and boasts excellent driving characteristics. The mileage information is based on the reading on the speedometer, either in kilometres or miles. The car has minor cosmetic defects.
This early roadster from the first series features the technical improvements of the 4.2-litre models from 1964 onwards and impresses with both its attractive appearance and its excellent driving performance.
The vehicle has a new TÜV certificate valid until August 2027 with no defects. The annual inspection has been carried out and all relevant assemblies have been checked. The engine oil has been changed, the drive units have been cleaned, the sealing rings have been replaced, and the relevant lubrication points have been lubricated. A pressure loss test of the cooling system has been carried out. The master brake cylinder, brake booster, expansion tank and inlet hose have been replaced, and the brake lines have been converted. Additionally, the brake and clutch fluids have been replaced. The vehicle drives very comfortably and smoothly and is in excellent technical condition.
