Description

On offer this completely restored 1965 Ford Mustang 2+2 Fastback, Shelby R-spec modification, for road or track use.

The 1965 Mustang Fastback officially called the 2+2 was introduced in mid-1965 as a sportier evolution of the original Mustang launched in April 1964. Its sleek, sloping roofline and fold-down rear seat gave it a more aggressive look and improved practicality. Buyers could choose from several engines, including the popular 289 cubic-inch V8, which helped establish the Mustang’s reputation for affordable performance. The Fastback quickly became a symbol of the new “pony car” era, blending style, customization, and strong straight-line speed. In 1965 approximately 77.079 Ford Mustang Fastbacks were produced.

In the same year, performance icon Carroll Shelby transformed the Mustang Fastback into the Shelby GT350. Built for SCCA competition, the 1965 GT350 featured a modified 289 “Hi-Po” V8 producing about 306 horsepower, upgraded suspension, heavy-duty brakes, and a stripped-down interior for reduced weight. Finished in Wimbledon White with blue racing stripes, the 1965 Shelby GT350 became an instant legend and laid the foundation for the Mustang’s high-performance legacy.

This example is 1965 a genuine Ford Mustang Fastback K-Code 289 “Hi-Po” V8 originally delivered to Los Angelas, California.

We at Strada e Corsa, have recently fully restored it in Wimbledon white. We love these wonderful cars and used our vast restoration experience to make this one just as good as any other car that leaves our shop. High quality and lots of attention to details.

We have modified it as a Shelby GT350 R-Spec, Including correct Shelby seats, dials, rear box, rear upper trailing arms, the Shelby one inch front suspension drop and long range fuel tank.

The highly competitive engine has been built Milestone Motorsport who have an extensive track record of building race winning engines. Dyno results available.

We built the car, with its fully seam-welded and reinforced racing chassis, the roll bar, the T10 gearbox, upgraded brakes, upgraded rear axle with limited slip differential and the powerful Hi-Po 289 engine, to fully comply with FIA specifications.

This wonderfully restored car, with all these period correct options, is the perfect event car, either on the road (events such as Tour Auto, Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique, Modena Cento Ore), or on the race track (events such as Spa Classic, Goodwood Revival, Le Mans Classic).

This a unique opportunity to acquire a freshly restored that can be bought as is, ready for the road. Or we can further tailor it to your individual road or race track requirements. Either way it’s a turn key car.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions and feel free to make an appointment to come view this very special car at our workshop in Haarlem, the Netherlands!
