Convertible Langenthal (1 of 52!)
The Citroën Traction Avant marked a turning point for the international automotive industry. It was the first production car to feature a self-supporting body and front-wheel drive. This 1934 design was so advanced that the 11 CV remained in production until 1955. Its excellent road holding, front-wheel drive, highly effective hydraulic brakes and, by the standards of the time, high engine torque meant that many a criminal managed to escape the police. This is how it earned the nickname ‘gangster limousine’.
Before the war, Citroën also offered open-top variants. Later, it was bodywork specialists who catered to an exclusive market, including ‘Carosserie Langenthal’ in Switzerland. There, around 50 vehicles were converted into convertibles. It is said that around 14 examples of these still exist. One of these is our Citroën Traction Avant 11 CV Convertible, registered in Germany. This classic car is ready to drive straight away! You don’t necessarily have to use it as a getaway car…
