Description

Before the age of modern supercars there was a different kind of speed—measured in poise, discretion, and the quiet certainty of taste. The Aston Martin DB2/4 Mk. III belongs to that rarified moment. The DB2/4 MK. III does not announce itself; it arrives and carries the confidence of a car designed not to chase attention, but to deserve it.

Most notably, the DB2/4 Mk. III introduced the grille shape that would become an Aston Martin signature, giving the car a sense of continuity that endures today.

This is a grand tourer in the purest sense of the word. Designed for sustained high-speed travel with comfort, balance, and mechanical integrity at the forefront. Not brutal, not flamboyant, but purposeful and refined—for the driver who understands that true performance is as much about restraint as it is about power.

The Mk III featured an updated 2.9-liter Lagonda-derived inline-six, offered in several states of tune. The standard engine produced around 162 bhp, while the optional DBB/DBD versions pushed out slightly more. Paired with a four-speed manual gearbox and optional overdrive, the Aston delivered smooth and spirited performance, capable of 0–100 km/h in roughly 9–10 seconds and reaching speeds near 190–200 km/h, depending on specification. Certainly thrilling in 1958 as well as today.

Refinements to suspension geometry and braking, including front disc brakes, enhanced handling and stopping power, making the Mk III one of the most capable British GTs of its era. Balanced, elegant, and technically progressive. With just 462 examples build in coupe form, it remains a rare sight too.

This 1958 DB2/4 Mk III was first delivered on the 18th of October 1958 to Mr. F.B. Scott, living on the Island of Jersey. Already in 1961 it was back in the UK, this time in the London area.

According to the original delivery card on file, the engine of this car was originally DBA/1358 and is now DBA/1360. Sure enough, in the original brown logbook, it is noted that the car is imported (from Jersey) and that the engine has been exchanged for DBA/1360. Given the numbers, it would be correct to assume that it was a factory replacement engine done in period.

The original delivery card also mentions non-standard items fitted form the factory such as DB3S wood rimmed steering wheel and twin exhaust system.

In the early 1990s, the Aston Martin was imported to Denmark by a well-respected authority on vintage and classic cars, who had found the Aston Martin stored in a Scottish barn. The Aston Martin was then restored under his guidance to the current condition. There are several invoices on file documenting parts bought in the UK for the rebuild.

Mechanically the Aston Martin is on the button, the engine is strong and a great runner. In 2024 the engine was serviced and upgraded with adjustable cam wheels. An invoice for the work is included.

The Aston Martin has been on display in a prominent collection for a number of years.

This is a great opportunity to own a milestone Grand Tourer from Aston Martin at a reasonable price point. Impressive for its day, and very much still today.

The original brown logbook comes with the car showing 5 owners in the UK.

Registered on current Danish (EU) registration documents.
