The Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600 Spider Veloce. This is one of those classic Alfas in which everything seems to come together perfectly: the elegant Pininfarina bodywork, the lively Twin Cam engine, the five-speed manual transmission, and, of course, the open-air driving experience. Add the beautiful, well-cared-for condition of this particular example, and it immediately becomes clear why this type of Spider still holds such tremendous appeal today.
This Giulia Spider was reportedly restored in the 1990s and remains in very attractive condition. In many ways, that is exactly how we like to see a classic Alfa. And driving is exactly what this car asks you to do. The engine responds eagerly, the transmission invites you to use it, and the compact dimensions make the Spider wonderfully easy to place on the road. You sit low, the steering wheel feels just right in your hands, and with the sky above you, even an ordinary drive quickly becomes something special. This is not a classic you will want to keep exclusively under a cover. This is a car that calls for an early Sunday morning, an empty road, and a destination that ultimately does not matter all that much.
The details make it even more charming. Take a look, for example, at the gauges on the dashboard. Over the years, they have developed a slight yellowing, and that is precisely what gives the interior so much character. These are the small traces of age you find in a carefully preserved classic. They remind you that this Alfa was not built yesterday and give the cabin a wonderfully authentic appearance.
The relative rarity of this version makes it especially interesting as well. Production of this particular version is quoted at 1,091 examples, meaning you will encounter it considerably less often than many other classic Alfa Romeo models. And for an extra touch of glamour: Steve McQueen also bought a Giulia Spider in period. Naturally, that says nothing about this specific example, but it does give a nice sense of the company this elegant Italian sports car kept at the time.
This Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600 Spider Veloce is presented in exceptionally neat and attractive condition.
