History & Condition

The motorcycle was purchased in Denmark in 1990. In 2010, it underwent a comprehensive technical restoration including engine, gearbox and further mechanical components. Since then, the motorcycle has covered only approximately 85 km.

Particularly noteworthy is the largely preserved originality of the bike: the paintwork and chrome parts remain mostly original, with only the chassis professionally refinished in black.

The motorcycle currently does not have Swiss veteran registration status, although this should generally be possible.

Description

Some motorcycles are more than just machines – they tell stories.

This beautiful 1963 BSA B40 Star perfectly embodies that feeling: honest engineering, classic British design and the pure passion of motorcycling.

The powerful air-cooled 343 cc single-cylinder engine producing around 21 hp delivers exactly what many modern motorcycles have lost – character, sound and emotion. Every start, every gear change and every ride feels authentic and alive.

The motorcycle has been restored with great attention to detail and presents itself in a stunning red and black colour combination with beautiful chrome details. Its original style and timeless lines make this BSA a true eye-catcher – whether in a collection, at classic vehicle events or on a relaxed countryside ride.

A motorcycle for lovers of British classics and for people searching for something truly special.

About BSA – A Legend of British Motorcycle History

BSA stands for Birmingham Small Arms Company and is one of the most important names in British motorcycle history. Founded in Birmingham in 1861, the company became, for a time during the 1950s, the largest motorcycle manufacturer in the world.

BSA motorcycles have always stood for robust engineering, honest mechanics and the unmistakable character of classic British motorcycles. Models such as the Gold Star, Rocket, Shooting Star and B40 still enjoy cult status among collectors and enthusiasts today.

Especially the single-cylinder models are admired for their clean lines, characteristic sound and pure riding experience. They were created in an era when motorcycles were built with passion, craftsmanship and engineering excellence – without electronic assistance, but with soul and personality.

The BSA B40 was developed in the early 1960s and achieved worldwide success in both civilian and military versions. Its reliable 343 cc single-cylinder engine became known for durability, practicality and easy maintenance.

Today, classic BSA motorcycles are considered highly desirable collector’s vehicles and represent the unique charm of British motorcycle culture. They combine nostalgic design with an authentic riding experience and remind us of a time when motorcycling was still a true adventure.

A BSA is not simply a motorcycle – it is a living piece of history on two wheels.
