Hexagon Classics are delighted to offer this unique, bespoke Rinspeed Model R69, or “969”, Turbo, which is one of the rarest Porsche conversions ever created. It is believed to be 1 of just 12 examples created by the well-respected Rinspeed exotic coachbuilders, who exported their distinctive products to discerning, wealthy clients all over the globe.

“Absolute aesthetic, Dynamic elegance and Breathtaking speed”: that’s why Zurich-based Swiss coachbuilder Rinspeed chose the Cheetah as their company emblem. Finished in Rinspeed’s trademark pearlescent white, this 930 Turbo looks every inch the 1980’s style icon. Rarely available in right-hand drive, this is a car that will appeal to any Porsche collector looking for a high-performance sports car and a style statement too.  Porsche aficionado Magnus Walker recently reviewed the R69 on his YouTube channel.

Porsche made its first and most significant changes to the 930 for 1978 model year, enlarging the engine bore by 2 mm to a total displacement of 3,299 cc and adding an air-to-air intercooler. By cooling the pressurised air charge, the intercooler helped increase power output to 296 hp at 5,500 rpm and 412 Nm (304 lb/ft) of torque at 4,000 rpm. 0-60 mph for the slant-nosed models was achieved in just 4.7 seconds.

A seriously expensive car when specified new the 930 Turbo was supplied by JCT 600 Porsche, Leeds in 1980. The Rinspeed R69 / 969 conversion was commissioned in Switzerland at huge expense for its first owner in 1983.   The Rinspeed R69 has benefitted from significant recent expenditure of more than £6,500, which has included a full service, new anti-roll bars, new cam cover gaskets, battery, oil level sender and new Pirelli Asimetrico tyre set.  This car has wanted for nothing during its lifetime. Boasting an excellent Porsche main dealer service history, it presents beautifully, and would bring something unique to even the largest Porsche collection. The Rinspeed R69 is complete with history file, invoices (including a full engine rebuild at 67,334 miles at Porsche Centre Leeds), MOT history and its original Porsche-stamped service handbook and tool roll and spare key. This is a wonderful, low mileage example of 1980’s supercar history, which is all ready to be enjoyed.
