In early 1971, the Mercedes-Benz 280 SL sports car, popularly known as the ‘Pagoda’, was still in production after nine years, but its successor, the 350 SL (R 107 series), was already making its way onto the market. The modern bodywork was a completely new design, as was the 3.5-litre V8 engine. For the important US export market, the 450 SL – the model with the larger engine capacity – was introduced straight away. Later, the 380 SL was also available, and from 1986 the 560 SL for the American market. This was the final version of this series, which spanned a total of 18 years of production!
Our Mercedes-Benz 560 SL Roadster was first registered in the USA. Built in 1989, it represented the final, optimised version. The classic car has been retrofitted in accordance with European regulations and has German vehicle documents.
