Sales information

The Fiat Dino 2.0 Coupé originated in 1967 from a unique collaboration between Fiat and Ferrari. Ferrari required a large number of production engines for the homologation of its new V6 engine for Formula 2, but lacked the production capacity to build them itself. Fiat took on the production and, in return, received permission to use the same V6 engine in one of its own sports cars.

For the Coupé, Fiat enlisted design house Bertone, where the young Giorgetto Giugiaro designed an elegant 4-seater GT. Under the hood lay a 2,0-liter V6 with double overhead camshafts and three Weber carburetors, producing 160 hp. With this, the Dino offered not only excellent performance but, above all, a driving experience that clearly differed from the other Fiat models. The characteristic sound and high revs immediately betrayed its Ferrari heritage.

Although the later 2.4-liter Dino was technically more advanced, it is the original 2.0 Coupé that has acquired a special status. After all, it was this car that made the collaboration between Fiat and Ferrari visible and played a key role in the development of Ferrari's famous Dino engine. As a result, the Fiat Dino 2.0 Coupé is regarded today as one of the most special Italian classics of the 1960s: a stylish Gran Turismo with a true Ferrari heartbeat.

The Dino 2.0 Coupe we have just received is from the 1967 model year, originates from Italy, and was imported into the Netherlands in 2019. Prior to that, the car was owned by only two Italians, the first for the longest period, namely from new until 2007, and the second from 2007 to 2019. The Italian registration certificates are, of course, present to prove its history. In the Netherlands, this beautiful coupe has had only one owner, who likewise maintained the Fiat perfectly. The basis was already good, and certainly regarding the bodywork and interior, nothing needed to be done. Thanks to the sunny Italian climate and the two caring owners. The mechanics, however, could certainly use a refresh. The engine ran fine in itself but had become a bit tired over time. And that is not a small or cheap repair if you want it done properly. Therefore, the help of a true Dino engine specialist was enlisted, who very carefully completely overhauled the engine. In an accompanying beautiful booklet, all the photos were reproduced to show that nothing was left to chance. And it shows: the 160 hp is achieved at eager revs, and it is a great pleasure not only to be on the road in this beautifully styled coupe, but also to enjoy the superb powertrain.

The paintwork is a bit older, but looks very neat. No damage or dents that have accumulated over time, just tidy. The interior is on the same level. Delightfully original and used, but nowhere broken or in need of replacement. Well, alright then, the trunk mat isn't looking great anymore. But that is the only thing. The chassis and underbody are also in excellent condition, with no signs of welding or rust repairs. No, just honest and original.

Cars like this are becoming increasingly difficult to find in pristine and original condition. And that is exactly what the enthusiast is looking for. Honest, cool, driving well, and with a fresh engine. We have it ready for you!
