1952 | MG TD

We are delighted to welcome back this wonderful MG TD. We last supplied the MG back in 2012, selling it to a long term regular customer of ours in Cumbria who first began buying cars from us almost 20 years ago. The car was in pristine condition and sold for £22,995 looking fresh for a long term restoration that was carried out to an exceptional standard. First registered on the 20th March 1952, our MG left the factory in British Racing Green and was supplied new in Ayrshire. We know from the brown 'buff' logbook that EAG 586 spent much of the early 1960's in Edinburgh before moving to North Berwick, East Lothian in 1966. We have no history through the 1970's but we know from 1984 to 2001 the MG TD was with just one owner in West Lothian

Throughout the 1990's a major body off restoration commenced and by 2001/2002 the MG TD was completed by Classic Restorations of Scotland. Invoices from Classic Restorations alone total over £11,000. Adding to the invoices are photographs during restoration showing the bare chassis before being sand blasted and painted. A new body shell from NTG Services was purchased prior to the rebuild and fitted onto the re-furbished chassis. The leather seats were re-trimmed, door cards replaced, new carpets fitted and full weather equipment trimmed and fitted including side screens. All chrome work was replaced and the car painted in the original colour of British Racing Green. From completion to arriving with us in 2012 MG had covered less than 1000 miles.

We then supplied the car for the first time and it's been thoroughly enjoyed during the thirteen years of ownership. The MG has been used for local rallies, shows and events and has covered several thousand faultless miles. The last owner has also maintained the car very well with invoices to support. Since last seeing the MG the cylinder head has been converted to unleaded, carbs have been rebuilt and pages of invoices cover lots of detail. All these years on since rebuild the MG still presents very well and although it's over 20 years since completion of the rebuild, the TD has only covered a few thousand miles so drives beautifully with a strong engine holding very good oil pressure. The MG handles and brakes superbly offering fabulous 50's open top motoring and retains a nice paint finish, bright chrome work, lovely upholstery and delightful engine bay.
