It’s always a pleasure when a car returns to our collection, especially this one, as I know its history from A to Z. I originally acquired this exceptional limousine in 2011 from my landlady at the time. She and her husband had bought the XJ brand new in 1985 and always kept it tucked away in a garage. When I approached her to rent that garage, she agreed—on the condition that I would sell the car for her. And so I did!
I sold it to one of my suppliers, who has provided it with a heated home for all these years. What we have here is a stunning Jaguar XJ6 4.2 Series III Sovereign in a delightful color combination: Tudor White paired with a Cherry Red leather interior.
Condition
At 40 years old, this Jaguar is now tax-exempt (in the Netherlands) and has been incredibly well-preserved. Both the leather and the paintwork are in very good condition. The bodywork has received some minor attention for corrosion here and there over the years, but overall, it is in extremely tidy shape. The chrome work is also in excellent condition. This is a beautiful and very charming example of the Series III.
Driving Experience
We personally drove the car back to Zeeland from the center of the country, and that’s when you truly realize what a brilliant machine this is for its age. The handling is what makes the XJ so charismatic: the effortless steering and the way it "floats" down the road is, in one word, FANTASTIC!
Maintenance
This Sovereign has been serviced almost every year. There have never been any major issues—just regular, preventative maintenance. We are having it inspected by a specialist one more time to ensure everything is 100% before it goes to its new owner. Naturally, the NAP mileage report and all original documentation are included with this beautiful classic.
