And you will easily get some requests in advance once you’ll be out for a drive!
Specials: tool kit, jack, hazard triangle, capotte cover, spare wheel and its color combination.
Autobianchi Bianchina Cabriolet
The Autobianchi Bianchina Cabriolet was born in 1959 by engineer Luigi Rapi, who boasts a past in the Fiat body division.
The Autobianchi company was born a few years earlier, in 1955, after an intuition of Pirelli and Fiat. The Bianchina is the forerunner of this very particular factory in Desio. Fun fact: the Bianchina Cabriolet owned by the Bestetti family, chassis #002925, has currently been in Desio for many years, very close to where it was built. This gives it a historical value.
The Bianchina was born from the Fiat 500 project and a series of mechanical innovations by the famous Dante Giacosa. The name Bianchina comes from the tribute of one of the founders of the company, Giuseppe Bianchi. This nice little car, although controversial in style, marked an important characteristic on the market, because it combined mechanical simplicity, with a very small displacement engine, with very refined aesthetic details. Pirelli then made the first "decorated" tires, with a white band along the shoulder, an important detail for the style of the time.
The Bianchina Cabriolet was built in three different series in total, differentiated mainly by aesthetic details and internal components, to improve internal habitability and gradually increase the perceived style, to respond to the controversial concept of a small and utilitarian car. The last series, the third, was produced until 1964, but it is important to report that the mechanical concept of the Bianchina has always remained very similar over time, to strengthen the importance of its market and its value, today, as a collector, because it has maintained its strengths even against very strong and very innovative foreign industrial competition.
The Bianchina Cabriolet today is a sought-after car because it interprets a concept of Italian Dolce Vita even among Italians themselves. Thanks to its simple mechanics, it is attractive in the collectors' market because it can be restored, it allows you to find the right spare parts quite easily and it does not require too many hours of work by the craftsmen, thanks to its size and the accessibility of the most important components. It is a practical, usable machine that also boasts its own Italian club, with international members
