Beschreibung

We last supplied this stunning Austin Healey 3000 MKII BJ7 six years ago to a client of ours in Nidderdale, between Harrogate and Pateley Bridge. We can confirm this is a matching numbers UK supplied Healey, built between the 1st and 4th of November 1963 and supplied new by Windsor Motor Company, Windsor, Berkshire. This RHD Home Market car was equipped new with overdrive, wire wheels, heater, adjustable steering column, servo assisted brakes and laminated windscreen. Whilst this is a genuine UK home market car, it has spent much of its life overseas in RHD format. The Austin Healey was taken to San Marino where it spent several years prior to being registered in Italy on the 7th July 1982. The Healey then spent 32 years in Italy, spending from 1982 to 2012 in Brescia with one owner. In 2014 the car was in Roma, and was brought back to the UK and had one owner back on British soil before coming to us for the first time in 2018.

YNF 526A arrived back in the UK in superbly presented condition, it was put through an MOT and covered around 500 miles between 2014 and coming to us in 2018. Throughout 2015 and 2016 almost £10,000 was spent on parts alone, all kept in the history file. Hundreds of hours were put into the car to take it to the next level in terms of condition and detail. The interior was fully re-trimmed to a truly exceptional standard, the quality is top class and whilst the trim was also removed, the floors were treated and painted. On re-fit, new chrome handles, knobs and many small parts replaced, along with new door cards, all new leather, new hood and high quality carpets. The engine bay was detailed to an exceptional standard and still gleams, the car ready to take to a show.

When the Healey arrived with us in 2018 we appraised the vehicle and whilst in stunning cosmetic order, it had clearly had very little use over many years and was ready for some mechanical re-commissioning. We carried out extensive mechanical work to include rebuilding the gearbox, fitting a new three part clutch kit, we sent away the steering box for overhaul, fitted a brand new stainless steel exhaust system, front brake discs and pads, rear wheel cylinders, rear brake shoes, rear axle half shaft seals and gaskets, differential pinion oil seal, front anti-roll bar mounting brackets, front drop link bushes and fully serviced the car including new ignition items. Since preparing the car, the recent owner has had six years of enjoyment, the car proving completely reliable and first class on the road. The Healey has been used most summers for local use, covering 600 faultless miles since last seeing the car back in 2018.

We are pleased to see this car back, it still presents beautifully with excellent, gleaming paintwork and a first class straight bodyshell. The brightwork is excellent, as are the chrome wires, and the interior trim, hood and engine bay all excellent. Structurally the 3000 is exceptional, and mechanically is very strong and in excellent driving order. The engine offers impressive performance, excellent oil pressure and the gearbox 600 miles on since rebuild is as new. The overdrive comes in and out smoothly, handling and braking excellent and whilst six years on since the major re-commissioning, the car still feels fresh, tight and offers an exceptional driving experience. With rear seat option, wind up windows, overdrive and arguably in the most desirable Healey colour, this UK home market example offers an excellent all round package.
