Beschreibung

This very early production V12 Srs III FHC was produced on 16th December 1970, predating the official launch in March 1971

It was shipped to the US and first delivered to San Mateo in California

The dealership was Burlingame British Cars Inc.,65 California Drive, Burlingame, CA 94010 and onwards to its first owner, Howard Engelsher of 22 N. San Mateo Drive, San Mateo, CA 94401 (31st January 1971)

So how did this chap have a customer car before the Official Launch 'me wonders'

Anyhow, what a lucky chap was he!

The story stops until 1999 when the car was returned to the UK and underwent a thorough restoration

Many upgrades were introduced at this time to formulate a rather splendid spec!

Conversion from LHD to RHD, replacement engine with an early XJ-S HE (Raymond Mays designed for Jaguar) giving better power, pick up and also economy, as the previous EFi engines were, albeit less thirsty than the earlier carburettor version, were still considered too consumptive

The suspension was uprated, as was the gearbox with a Getrag 5 speed unit having been installed

The original British racing green paintwork was refinished, and at the time black leather interior was fitted

Sundym glass featured all round, as were the correct wire wheels

The owner retained her until 2015 at which point the new owner considered the black interior too dark so had her retrimmed in Cinnamon leather which suits her so well

All other areas were similarly changed to match with a modern radio with blu-tooth

The twin electric fans are controlled by the final switch on the right hand side on the row of rocker switched (nice touch)

The electric aerial is controlled by another switch on the side of the central tunnel and also there is an iPod connector and a secret starter button

The uprated HE engine delivers 299 bhp & 318 ft/lbs as opposed to the original 276 bhp 304 ft/lbs unit installed - however the updates don't finish there....................

AJ6 Engineering offer various options for race or road use and this cracker-jack of an E Type enjoys one of their stainless steel exhaust systems (TT Torque extractor) giving an upside of 12% = 356 ft/lbs now !!!

Oh and let's not forget their ECU upgrade - so whilst these V12 engines can dribble along at walking speed in any gear, should you wish to unleash to prodigious power of this example you would be amazed - as was I when I had a clear road ahead of me

I've never experienced this sort of power out of a V12 FHC - EVER!!

One of our favourite versions of the E Type, giving space for your golf clubs and a comfortable cabin - and this one ticks over when travelling at 100mph at well under 4.000rpm !!

We also really like the specific touches to make this car unusual - keeping the US driving lights on the sides, which I always liked, and most restorations remove them

It's much safer and makes the car look tasty, a bit like the Fuel Injection script on the tailgate - she does have EFi so why not shout about it, quietly!

Jaguar put this script onto their saloon models in the mid seventies, so when the restoration was carried he found a badge and used it - very cool

Anyhow as you can see, we are very much in favour of the car, and indeed we will be really sorry to see her go
