EDV 407D is a genuine, factory-built Morris Minor 1000 Convertible that was first registered on the 1st January 1966 in Exeter, Devon. The Morris is still in its original colour of Old English White and it comes with a comprehensive history file dating back to the late 1980’s. Over the past 30 years or so the Morris has been MOT tested most years and has covered 10,000 miles over this period.
In recent years, the Morris has had some serious expenditure and restoration work but in 1990 the car was in the hands of a gentleman in Birmingham who kept the car for ten years as an investment, keeping it garage and taking it out annually for its MOT test and covering just a few miles per annum. In 1990 he treated to a new mild steel exhaust system and full service and in 1991 the same garage fitted new brake shoes and wheel cylinders and over the next nine years the car needed very little.
In 2000 the Morris was sold and stayed with its new owner for 18 years, used and enjoyed as often as possible and driven on purchase from Birmingham to Wiltshire faultlessly. In 18 years of ownership the Morris covered around 6000 miles, was superbly maintained and subject of a light body restoration in 2012/2013 that included new steel front wings, a full re-paint with doors, bonnet and boot lid removed and all the new rubbers. The Morris was also treated to new weatherstrips, parcel tray, carpets and various new brightwork.
After eighteen years in Wiltshire, the Morris headed north to Worksop and in 2018 was treated to a re-conditioned Charles Ware supplied 1098cc engine. Various invoices are on file for mechanical work and the Morris has been in regular use proving reliable and lovely to drive. EDV 407D today still presents superbly with a lovely paint finish and nice clean panels having had a high quality re-paint and new wings back in 2012/2013. The brightwork is of a very good standard, the interior trim presents very well, the engine bay looks clean and smart and the nicely aged hood is in very good order. On the road our Morris is fabulous, the rebuilt engine hasn't covered many miles and is super fit and healthy, the four speed gearbox great to use and the Morris handles and brakes well. This is a particularly good, all round usable Morris Minor Convertible that has been cherished by its last three owners over the last 30 years.
