The clever little Morris Minor was a hit from the first time it was shown to the British public. Designed in the mid-Forties by Alec Issigonis, (the same designer of the very popular Mini)

The Minor was introduced at the London Motor Show of 1948.
This revolutionary design was on the cutting edge of small car development and years ahead of the prewar engineering that could be found under most of the European economy cars of the time.

In 1961, the Minor became the first British car in to exceed 1,000,000 built.

The Minor Traveller was introduced in 1954 as a Series II model. The unit construction floor and “cab” section was built at the main Morris plant at Cowley, then shipped to the MG factory at Abingdon to be fitted with the wood and aluminum rear “doghouse” structure.

MG was just phasing out the wood frame bodied, TF to make way for the all steel MGA and their fully staffed woodshop was just the ticket for the Traveller woodwork.

ABOUT THIS SPECIFIC EXAMPLE

This specific Morris has a nice history for us.

My father bought this Morris Minor in 1998 or 1999.
I still remember that we went to the United Kingdom with my parents to pick up the Morris Minor on a trailer.

The reason why my father bought the car had to do with the condition. The Morris was at that time just finished from a complete nut and bolt restoration which is fully documented by the well known magazine Practical Classics.
If one looks at the pictures it was a crazy idea to restore a Morris Minor on such a high level as the value was much lower than the costs of the restoration.

After some years of ownership my father decided to sell the car. A German gentlemen bought the car and kept her for some years in his ownership.

The Morris changed hands to another client of us who purchased the Morris in Germany and traded her in on another car from us recently.

During both ownerships in Germany the Morris have been very well maintained and invoices show several works carried out on the car by professional companies.

CONDITION EXTERIOR

The body of the Morris is actually too nice for a Morris. Due to the value of the car and the high restoration costs it is difficult to find a Morris with a nice body.
This specific example has a very nice body and the wood is also recently renewed so therefore in an as new condition.

The chrome parts are in a perfect order even as the windows which don’t show any scratches or dents.

The wheels are nicely sprayed in the body color with excellent chrome hubcaps.

CONDITION INTERIOR

The interior is in the same condition as the exterior, probably slightly more patina as the car has been used once in a while.

The seats are in a very nice order without any damages like scratches or cracks which are often seen in Morris interiors.

An extra magazine comes with the car and shows the complete interior restoration on the car.

All the buttons are perfectly working as well as the measurements. As extra, the Morris is fitted with a 12 volt connection to charge telephones or use a GPS system.
Furthermore, the Morris also has a warning light system.

DRIVING EXPERIENCE

When the key of the Morris is turned, the engine starts immediately and gives a nice and recognizable Morris sound.
The engine sounds immediately as a machine who wants to work.
The engine is perfectly tuned and is running very strong.

The transmission shifts very well with good syncros, both when warm and cold.

The brakes will be checked by us as they are properly working but they can be improved.
