The new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupé with gullwing doors was unveiled for the first time at the 2009 IAA. It was designed as a grand tourer (GT), meaning it offered impressive performance and a highly sporty character, whilst also providing the comfort required for long-distance travel. For Mercedes, this marked a return to the supercar segment following the legendary 300 SL (1954–1957). AMG developed the coupé, and each engine was hand-assembled there by a technician. Final assembly then took place at the Sindelfingen plant. This guarantees the necessary exclusivity. The short production run from 2010 to 2014 makes the SLS a highly sought-after classic.
