Description

For sale is a beautiful 280 SE Cabriolet W111, in a timeless color combination. The papyrus white paint is untouched except for the European conversion in the rear area. The front and rear seats of the gorgeous blue full leather interior was renewed once several years ago, otherwise the interior is untouched and brings with it a beautiful patina. The vehicle has "Matching Numbers" and has always been meticulously maintained technically.

The history of the vehicle is very well documented throughout its past. Within the documentation you even have the initial vehicle invoice from 1969 and many other invoices from the US and Germany are present.  In addition, the US title and the original data card have been preserved. An absolutely perfect vehicle for collectors and/ or drivers.

Initially the car was delivered to its first owner in 1969 to Florida (USA) Mary j Deutschbein, she inherited the 280 SE in 1997 to her daughter Margie Sue Bach, who lives in Michigan. In 2017, the daughter of Margie Sue Bach decides to sell the Mercedes convertible. The sale was taken over by a friend of the family who is based in Denmark, he imported the car to the current owner in Germany. The latter decided to convert the car to EU delivery in 2021 and commissioned the Rosier Classic Sterne company to do the work. The last estimate was done in 2020, with a rating of 1-.

The 280 SE is both technically and visually in an excellent condition and ready for all purposes. An absolutely rare and beautiful four-seater convertible.

History of the series

The model series began in 1961 with the 220 SE Cabriolet, followed by the 250 SE Cabriolet in 1965 and the 280 SE Hochkühler Cabriolet in 1967. After the model update from 1969, it was completed by the 280 SE Flachkühler Cabriolet and the 280 SE 3.5 liter Cabriolet.

Only 1,390 of the 280 SE Cabriolets were produced between 1967 and 1971 in two different variants - the high and flat radiator versions, which differed only in the height of the front end.

Thanks to its low number of units and solid engineering, this model is a real collector's item with appreciation potential. At the same time, however, it is also one of the few family-friendly convertibles available on the classic car market.

The vehicle is located in our showroom in Stuttgart-Plieningen, close to the airport/trade fair. A test drive and an inspection on the car lift are possible by arrangement.

The sale takes place on request with new inspection, service and TÜV. We also offer a wide range of accessories for your new dream car. If required, we can also deliver the vehicle to you in a closed trailer.

Opening hours: Mon - Sat by appointment
