Description

I am delighted to be able to offer you this fantastic vehicle on behalf of a customer today: Austin-Healey 3000 BN7 in metallic blue

Model overview

The Austin-Healey 3000 was produced from 1959 to 1967 at the MG factory in Abingdon-on-Thames. The model offered here is a first-generation car, internally designated MK1. The 3000 was a popular English sports car that won various European rallies and is still frequently used today. It is powered by a 2.6-litre 6-cylinder in-line engine. Thanks to two downdraft carburettors, it achieves a total output of 117 hp at 4750 rpm. It sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in approx. 12 seconds and only reaches its top speed at just over 177 km/h. Its original price at the time was £1,175.

History/maintenance

The model offered here was first registered in July 1960, making it one of the first vehicles produced. It has been owned by the current owner since 2022. In the 1990s, it underwent an extensive overhaul, which included the installation of a different engine: an early original Austin-Healey engine with 2,616 cubic centimetres, which was only installed for a little over a year. This engine is registered and H-compliant. As part of this overhaul, a 5-speed Getrag gearbox with shorter shift travel was also installed. The mileage is approximately 61,500 miles (99,000 km). The current owner last had the following service work carried out in 2022.

  • Valve cover gasket replaced

  • Valve clearance adjusted

  • Brake cylinders on right/left replaced

  • Quick-release axle resealed

  • Brake drums cleaned

  • Brake shoes replaced

  • Stabiliser bearings on right and left replaced

  • Fuel pump and hoses replaced

  • New front brake pads

A total of around €6,400.00 was invested. Since the overhaul, the vehicle has only been driven 3,500 km.

The MOT is valid until June 2026 and a Classic Data valuation report with a grade of 3+ was recently issued.

Features

As this is a purist English sports car from the 1960s, the features are rather spartan. Passengers take their seats on high-quality red Connolly leather seats. The English car is steered via a three-spoke wooden steering wheel and has a manual gearbox, in this case a retrofitted Getrag sports gearbox with shortened five gears. The built-in heating allows for a convertible experience even on cooler days.

A soft top and plug-in side windows are also included.

A compact, speedy and sporty roadster for drives like in the sixties.

This Healey is suitable for everyone, whether you just want to get in and drive away or are looking for a vehicle with a solid technical basis to perfect.
