1982 Volkswagen Golf Mk. I
Launched in 1974, the Volkswagen Golf was another 'home run' for the Stuttgart marque, rising to become its most successful model spanning eight generations. A spiritual sequel to the similarly successful Beetle, the Golf was designed by legendary designer Giorgetto Giugaro,
This lovely late-production Golf - nicknamed 'Lucy' - has been in our vendor's care since new. Originally her company car at an international commercial law firm, she purchased it from the company when she gave up work. Upon collecting the car, she remembers fondly driving her new Golf back to her Chiswick home with Rod Stewart blaring through the speakers. While not a concours-condition car, it has been very well cared for by its single owner and garaged for at least thirty of the forty-four years our vendor has owned it. Much of the Golf is original, including the interior (though the floor mats have been replaced). A respray was carried out around fifteen years ago in its original colour, which separates this car from many other Golfs you're likely to see on the road. True to the marque's moniker of 'People's Car', this Golf has been a daily driver and member of the family - our vendor's children even learnt to drive in it! Cherished for close to forty-five years, this beloved Golf is now ready for a new chapter with a second owner. Consigned by Charlie McCreery
