The Triumph TR3 was powered by a 1991cc engine with power transmitted through a four-speed manual transmission to the rear wheels. In 1956, the front brakes changed from drum to disc becoming the first British production car to do so. With little difference from the previous TR2 apart from some cosmetic changes, such as the egg-box grille locking door handles and an improved interior, the TR3 also benefitted from improved power, something that is always welcome and, as a result, became popular in competition both rally and circuit racing at the time.

Purchased by the vendor over 15 years ago, this striking ex-Californian example then underwent a full process of restoration less than 900 miles ago. Looking through the extensive file of paperwork, it would appear that almost every single part of this car has been replaced with new. This classic British sportscar has then been painted red (originally green) with black leatherette interior and contrasting red piping. The wire wheels are painted units with twin-eared chrome spinners and it also comes complete with full set of all-weather gear including tonneau equipment as well as an aftermarket Moto-Lita wood-rimed steering wheel.
