Description

1954 Rolls Royce Silver Wraith Park Ward Cabriolet
Chassis number: DLW9
Registration Number: 2NOJ (To be retained by owner)
One of only three car produced on the Long Wheel base chassis to Park Ward Design number 571 making it a very very rare thing indeed. The car was ordered & first registered to one Jack Cotton Esq in Birmingham. Correspondence alludes to the car being owned briefly by noted photographer David Bailey in the 1960's with period pictures of him taken in the car. The current owners family purchased the car in 1963 so it has been in the current ownership for many decades. During this time it has covered a warranted 120,000 miles from new.
It has been always garaged & comes with a thick sheaf of bills showing regular maintenance with well over £50,000 of bills on file. In the 1990's it had a light restoration including a repaint in its original colours as when new. At the same time the interior woodwork was removed & refinished in the correct satin finish & as a result presents beautifully today. The blue leather hide is original to the car & has seat covers curently fitted to preserve the patinated leather underneath.
The Black Mohair converible top is a newer item & glides effortlessly up & down at the touch of a button. Pleasingly it virtually disappears into the hood well giving the car a very streamlined appearance when open. Power steering was fitted to the car in 1963 making it effortless to drive & reputedly costing more then a then new mini.
This is a seriously grand car with a massive & imposing presence. It is in good order thoughout & will be given a full service as part of the sale. The Leather seats are quite patinated & original & the paint whilst presentable dates from some years ago.
