Pairing a 3.3-litre turbocharged flat-six with a four-speed manual gearbox, the right-hand-drive 930-generation Porsche 911 Turbo offered here was completed on 6 January 1980 ahead of delivery to the United Kingdom. Sold to its first owner, Mr Peter Swift of East Finchley, via the Charles Follett Ltd motor agent (a Jensen and luxury car dealer) of Greater London on 6 February 1980, the car was first registered “100 BBT”. The service book records that the Porsche returned to Charles Follet for maintenance in December, at which point it was logged with 946 miles. Further stamps dating to 1984 and 1987 indicate that the car moved to the Bradford area prior to Mr Peter Smith of Hull taking ownership in the 1990s.

According to the accompanying Certificate of Authenticity issued by Porsche in November 2018, this car was finished by the factory in Grand Prix White over a Black leather interior—the colour combination it is presented in today. Riding on a set of 16-inch Fuchs alloy wheels, the 911 was also specified with recoil bumpers, sports seats, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, a sunroof, plus air conditioning.

Having remained in the north of England for much of its early life, the Porsche was bought by an owner based in Milton Keynes in October 2013 before a new keeper purchased the 930 Turbo at auction in February 2017. A January 2021 invoice from marque specialist 911 Sport of Horncastle in Lincolnshire that documents light recommissioning work, a service, plus a rebuilding of the braking system totals £2,510.

Acquired by the vendor in April 2021, at which point the Porsche reverted to its correct-for-1980 registration, it has been sparingly driven across their four years of ownership. The MoT history reflects that since a January 2021 test, when the odometer was noted at 39,641 miles, it has covered fewer than 400 miles. Accordingly, the car displayed 40,025 miles at the time of cataloguing. It has, during this time, participated in the prestigious Salon Privé Concours at Blenheim Palace in 2023. The 911 Turbo previously featured at the Porsche in the Park gathering in 2002 and 2003.

Complemented by a bevy of invoices and MoT certificates dating back to 1998, this 930 is offered with period Porsche sales brochures and its owner’s guides contained within a leather pouch. Featuring its matching-numbers engine and wearing the factory-correct colour scheme, here is a highly appealing example of a supercar synonymous with the 1980s.
