Description

It’s hard to believe that it’s been over 50 years since Porsche introduced the 911 Turbo, or 930 as they called the model. The 930 was Porsche entrance into the supercar league, and in 1978 the model was upgraded with the even more powerful 3.3-liter intercooled engine, now producing 300 hp.

Today, 300 hp may not sound that impressive, but back in the 1970s, the 930 was the world’s fastest production car and only a Lamborghini Countach could hope to match it. It’s still with a certain awe you get behind the steering wheel of this car – at least if you intend to exploit its full potential. The big KKK turbocharger takes a long time to build up pressure by today’s standards, but once the rocket has been started and the needle on the rev counter passes 4,000 rpm, the 930 sits hard on its fat rear tires and inhales the horizon in a way, so you end up with white knuckles on the steering wheel and feel like you’re in the middle of a rocket launch. This is the real ketchup effect experience, no doubt about it. No wonder the 930 was nicknamed “The Widowmaker”. The 0-100 discipline is executed in a mere 5 seconds, which still today is very respective. High cruising speed on the motorway is another key competence, you always have plenty of power for a quick overtaking of the more down-to-earth vehicles. Porsche had to fit the mighty proportioned rear spoiler on the Turbo version as standard equipment to ensure adequate pressure on the rear wheels – just like in Formula 1.

This car was delivered new from Porsche Paderborn and with only 2 previous owners. This is not a US import, but the real thing. And with full service history from authorized Porsche workshops. In 2016 at 133.478km the car was purchased by a Danish enthusiast. After arrival, the engine and gearbox was restored by Porsche Classic, who also subsequently carried out service and maintenance, including replacement of brakes and heater box. Everything duly documented.

No need to say, this 930 is with full matching numbers and colors in Grand Prix White with matching white leather cabin, and has now only driven a modest 163.317km. The car is extremely well maintained, handle and drives  as it should, and present itself in an overall exceptionally good condition, both technically and cosmetically. A pleasure to enjoy, and a safe investment. There are not many such fine and original cars left.
