History:

The Reutter-bodied Carrera was delivered on March 9, 1963 through Porsche agent Autogerma in Bologna to its first owner, a coffee roastery manufacturer from the Turin area. It was subsequently owned by Eugenio Monti, six-time Olympic bobsleigh champion, who drove the car extensively around Cortina d’Ampezzo. The car later came to Germany.

The current ruby red paint corresponds to its original delivery color and is approximately 20 years old. During its lifetime, the engine was replaced with a correct Fuhrmann type 587/1 unit, a common and accepted practice for regularly driven Carrera engines of this specification.

Model highlights:

At the end of 1961, the Carrera received significant technical upgrades and was designated Carrera 2. The Fuhrmann engine type 587/1 featured 2.0 liters displacement, revised cylinder heads, lightweight alloy cylinders with Ferral coating and plain-bearing crankshaft assemblies. Output is 130 hp at 6,200 rpm. Separate front-mounted oil coolers were fitted. From April 1962, the Carrera 2 became the first Porsche equipped with Porsche’s internally mounted disc brake system, known as the ring brake.

Vehicle located in Cologne (Köln), Germany. Lift available for inspection. Test drives possible in stable weather conditions.
