Porsche 356 B Cabriolet – A Piece of Heaven on Four Wheels

There are cars that are just cars. And then there are legends. And at the very top, where the air is thin and the asphalt smells like freedom, sits the Porsche 356 B Cabriolet. Born in 1961, in an era when rock ’n’ roll was young and James Bond was still Sean Connery.

History – From Wiesbaden to Buffalo and Back

This 356 B was delivered in April 1961 by Rossel in Wiesbaden – not to just anyone, but to Thomas M. James, a US officer stationed in Germany. Address? 192 Burroughs Drive, Buffalo, N.Y. Yes, back then people still wrote out their full addresses in official documents – those were the days!

Color? Aetna Blue (color code 6003B) – a deep, sensual blue that exudes more charm than a martini on the Riviera. Paired with a black leather interior that smells like fine craftsmanship.

Update 06.08.25: The car was originally delivered in Aetna Blue (code 6003B) with black interior. It has since been repainted and now wears black with a red interior.

Then it went back to the USA, where it enjoyed the sunshine for decades before returning to Europe. Today, it stands here with Italian papers – ready for the next gentleman (or lady) with gasoline in their veins.

Design – Elegance with Porsche DNA

The 356 doesn’t shout. It whispers. And in such a seductive way that you’ll drop everything. The Cabriolet? The pure definition of freedom. Chrome details, perforated wheels, chrome mirrors, and that line – a curve so perfect it could hang in the Louvre.

And then the extras – not just any radio, but a Blaupunkt “Frankfurt,” because style and sound go hand in hand. A chrome luggage rack for those St. Tropez road trips, with leather straps to make the luggage look as good as the car.

Technology – A Boxer Heart from Zuffenhausen

Under the hood? An air-cooled flat-four that doesn’t scream numbers, but character. Light, agile, alive – a car you drive, not just move. No electronics, no driver aids, no excuses. You’re connected to this Porsche like a musician to his guitar.

Driving Experience – Open, Honest, Unmatched

Picture this: sunglasses on, the sun at your back, the flat-four purring like a contented lion, and you glide through Alpine passes. No touchscreen, no beeping – just you, the car, and the road. That’s what pure driving joy feels like.

Conclusion – A Legend with a Story

This 356 B is not just a classic car. It’s a time capsule, a rolling piece of art, a key to an era when driving was still an adventure. Original color combo, rare extras, documented history – what more could you want?

➡ When you buy it, you’re not just buying a car. You’re buying the lifestyle Ferry Porsche had in mind.
