Description

The Porsche 356 A Cabriolet remained the primary open-top variant within the 356 range throughout the A-generation, positioned as a more refined and usable alternative to the more spartan Speedster. Where the Speedster was developed as a lightweight, entry-level sports car, the Cabriolet offered a more complete and comfortable driving experience, with a fully integrated windscreen, proper roll-up windows and a more luxurious interior layout. It was, in essence, the grand touring interpretation of the 356.

This 1958 Porsche 356 A T2 Cabriolet has been fully restored in the past, with a documented photo report showing a comprehensive, body-off approach where the structure, panels and finish were rebuilt to a highest standard . is presented in its original silver metallic finish, a colour that highlights the purity of the design and remains entirely in line with period-correct specifications. As this example is the desirable T2 version, it benefits from a series of technical and structural refinements that improve both usability and driving experience compared to the earlier T1 models. While the underlying chassis remains the same, the weight distribution was optimized, resulting in a more balanced and stable feel on the road. In addition, improved sealing, the introduction of quarter vent windows contribute to a noticeably higher level of comfort and overall usability. The 1958 production figures further underline its position within the range. Approximately 1,382 Cabriolets were built that year, compared to around 1,058 Speedsters. Not something you run into every day.  What makes this car so enjoyable to drive is how effortlessly everything comes together. It is not about pushing or chasing performance, but about smooth, relaxed cruising and just enjoying the moment. You sit low, the steering feels light in your hands, and the car does exactly what you ask without ever feeling demanding.

This car represents exactly what a 356 should be: mechanically honest, beautifully balanced and genuinely enjoyable to drive.
