We are selling the "King of Scooters," a 1960 Messerschmitt KR200 cabin scooter
The "Fend Flitzer," conceived by Fritz Fend, an aircraft engineer, after the end of the war, was developed into a reliable production vehicle in collaboration with the Messerschmitt company in Regensburg. Together they constructed the first Fend cabin scooter, the FK150. The KR175 was presented to the public in 1953.
In 1955, the next Messerschmitt model, the KR200, was launched. Its more powerful engine, a 10.5 hp Fichtel & Sachs engine, reached a top speed of approximately 100 km/h (62 mph). The KR200 is captivating with its aerodynamic appearance, reminiscent of a small airplane. The seats are arranged in tandem and offer space for two people. In particular, the folding fabric top for access to the cabin scooter, as well as the unusual three-wheel concept and its characteristic spherical Plexiglas dome, give it a particularly striking appearance and make it a universally popular and admired eye-catcher. This vehicle will not only win everyone's affection, but will also impress with its agile handling. The Messerschmitt KR200 was produced in Regensburg from 1955 to 1964.
The KR200 offered here, whose first owner, according to the documentation, was a Messerschmitt assembly line employee in Regensburg, was restored and rebuilt, including the engine, in 2007. Photo documentation is available.
The vehicle is in good visual and technical condition with a patina commensurate with its age. The Plexiglas hood has minor scratches. There is also a slight blemish in one spot on the rear curve of the dome. The KR200 is a fourth-hand owner. Its extensive and impressive vehicle history and the services it has performed are documented.
The Messerschmitt KR200 is a true piece of classic car history for enjoyable rides and city trips. Even back then, it was advertised with the slogan: "The streets are getting more and more crowded, drive a Messerschmitt cabin scooter."
