Description

One of two Mercedes SLs will be awarded to benefit a new project.

I am offering you a very early Mercedes Benz, W123 B II, 190 SL, first delivered on February 29, 1956, making it number 2,007 of a total of 25,881 190 SLs produced.

According to the data card, the first delivery took place on the above-mentioned date to Mercedes Benz, District of Los Angeles, USA.

According to the data card, the vehicle was delivered in the color DB180, silver-gray with special upholstery in red leather 1079, and a G-shaped soft top in black fabric 872, and today it corresponds to its original delivery condition.

The inspection of all vehicle parts, such as the chassis number, engine number, front axle, steering, transmission, and rear axle, showed a 100% match with the data sheet, thus correctly qualifying the vehicle as a "matching number" and eligible to participate in the Mille Miglia.

The vehicle was restored between 1993 and 1996 in accordance with the standards applicable at the time on Lake Constance, with the support of the Dekra inspection organization, and converted to German standards.

When I purchased the vehicle in 2018, I already trusted the extensive expertise of Oldtimer Garage Memmingen, which, according to Motor Klassik, specializes in 190 SLs (www.oldtimergarage.de).

Since then, all work at this company has been carried out to my complete satisfaction. First, the engine, rear axle, and brakes were completely overhauled by this specialist shop. The propshaft was rebalanced, and the cavity was sealed. Later, the transmission was overhauled, and the Pierburg Solex PHH 44 carburetor was replaced with a completely overhauled one.

Currently, at 12,039 km, a service was performed in March 2025, the battery and engine mounts were replaced, and the MOT passed successfully on April 4, 2025, without any defects. Therefore, there is no maintenance backlog.

A report was prepared by Classic Data in November 2018 at 2,717 km, rating the vehicle's condition as 2+! A vehicle inspection report from a motor vehicle expert dated April 9, 2025, is also currently available, confirming the vehicle's identical condition as stated in the 2018 report. The car is in the same condition as in the 2018 report.

The vehicle was registered as a historic vehicle by FIVA.

Special features of the vehicle:

  • No chrome trim on the doors (only introduced in March 1956 as part of a facelift),

  • No chrome trim on the side panels,

  • Bucket seats from the 300 SL in the front, significantly more comfortable for tall people like me (changed to folding seats in April 1956),

  • Small taillights (larger taillights were introduced in June 1956),

  • License plate light on the trunk lid, resulting in a small 420 mm license plate on the registration certificate (changed in July 1957, followed by license plate light in the bumper ends),

  • Plexiglas sun visors (leather-covered from May 1958).

Accessories:

  • Lokari inner wheel arch liners were installed to protect the front wheel arches.

  • 5-piece luggage set from Bur in the color of the interior.

  • Retro San Diego radio in the style of the 50s and 60s, 4 channels, front speakers with two inputs, two satellites in the parcel shelf area, subwoofer under the passenger seat, hands-free system (you never know when an important call might come in), Hirschmann motorized antenna.

A vintage Becker Mexico radio, untested, is included in the sale.

If you are seriously interested, I would be happy to arrange a viewing at the fully equipped Oldtimer Garage in Memmingen.

I look forward to hearing from you.
