We are pleased to present this former RS Owners Club, Show-Winning Ford Escort XR3 to the market. Twelve years on from its major restoration, JEC561X presents as an exceptional high quality example with a stunning body colour underside finish. The XR3 was purchased as a restoration project by a long-term owner who retained the car for over a decade and has attended many shows and events in the car.

Having been repainted in the more scarcely seen Prarie Yellow OEM colour, JEC 561X is a very eye catching 80's Ford with exceptional straight panels. The interior has been very well preserved since its restoration with the cloth upholstery bearing no marks or tears. Under the bonnet is a superbly well-presented engine bay with all the inner panels in the beautiful body colour paint. The comprehensive history file accompanying the car is full of purchase invoices for a plethora of parts that were replaced featuring new panels, suspension, brakes, and instruments. New clocks were fitted that displayed 5239 miles, which from the earlier MOT history would indicate a total of mileage around 76,000. Having been unused for the past 12 months, the XR3 will be freshly serviced and put through our workshops ahead of going to its next owner.

The XR3 was a car designed with the prospect of being a sporty performance and styling with brilliant practicality. The XR3 was Fords answer to the VW GTi range which as an affordable offering came with a 1600cc engine and a light curbweight to combine into a nippy and responsive motorcar. Fords 1600cc featured an overhead cam and 4-cylinders married up to a Weber carburetor that produced a very iconic noise in keeping with its iconic styling. From the immense production numbers, the XR3 was etched into petrol head history with Ford enthusiasts all bearing brilliant memories of their time in one.
