SOLD-VENDU-VERKAUFT.
Very beautiful Daf 55, delivered new in Germany on March 8, 1972, to the wife of a doctor who owned the Daf until 1996! The 55 was then sold, and years later, her husband had the romantic idea of buying it back to surprise his wife. He succeeded in 2011, and he had the body restored and repainted. The beautiful 55 was presented at their golden wedding anniversary. However, times had changed, and the Daf was rarely used, which seemed a shame. In 2016, the car was sold to its last German owner, and now we have the opportunity to acquire this beautiful piece of Dutch heritage.
The 55 has been professionally repainted in the original color in the past, and the quality of the paintwork is excellent. The body is beautifully straight and has just been polished and buffed. The rear bumper has been replaced, and the front has attractive yellow fog lights. The paint has hardly any signs of wear and is completely smooth. The hollow areas have been treated with Mike Sanders grease. The doors close like a safe, and the seams are spotless. The rims were recently blasted, powder-coated, and fitted with new tires. What a beautiful DAF this is.
The interior is completely original and a true time capsule. The seats have the original upholstery, and the driver's seat has sleeper fittings. The black upholstery looks like new, having had covers over it for years. The Blaupunt Frankfurt radio works perfectly, and the instruments also function properly. The windshield washer has an electric pump, and the headliner hangs taut. The original rubber carpeting is completely intact and fitted with nice, sturdy mats.
The DAF has also been meticulously maintained in recent years, and the following parts have been replaced: the battery, the exhaust (original DAF), and part of the rear suspension. The Variomatic belts are only 1,100 km old, and the front disc brakes have just been replaced. The heater is disconnected and not working. Several TUV reports and the original registration are available. A tow bar was recently installed, which is rare. The installation is registered in the Fahrzeugbrief (car registration number).
The indestructible, water-cooled 1108 cc Cléon-Fonte engine has an excellent reputation. Renault had been using this engine in various models for years, and for Daf, it was an excellent choice. The compact and reliable 4-cylinder boosted sales, and the brand was finally taken seriously. Automotive journalists were also very positive about the 55 at the time. And it's still remarkable how light and easy this Daf drives. You can easily keep up with today's traffic.
