The model code E36 was given to the third generation of the 3 Series BMW which was first available in 1990. A significant vehicle in the BMW range, the car was manufactured in Germany, South Africa and the US in a wide variety of body styles. In addition to the ‘regular’ 4-door saloon, there was both a 2-door coupé and convertible, a 4-door "Touring" estate car and a 2-door "Compact" hatchback.
Similarly, the car was available with a wide range of engine options – 4 and 6-cylinder petrol engines, ranging from 1.6 to 3.2 litres in size, together with both 4 and 6-cylinder diesel options. A popular and reliable vehicle with an option for almost everybody, over 3 million cars had been produced when production ended in 2000.
Registered new in the UK in September 1999, this 323i Convertible model remained in the hands of its first owner until 2025, when it was purchased by a Jersey resident and re-registered in the island in June of that year. We have the vehicles MOT history from 2010 onwards, which confirms the low mileage to be genuine, with just 30,822 miles recorded on import to Jersey. The car has subsequently only added a handful of further island miles to its total.
The 2.5 litre, six-cylinder engine powering this 323i model is rated at 170 hp at 5,500 rpm, providing plenty of effortless cruising ability. The car runs and drives very well as might be anticipated with a low mileage vehicle.
The bodywork is in excellent condition with a fine finish to the Steel Blue Metallic paintwork. The body-coloured bumpers are in unmarked condition and the alloy wheels in similarly good condition.
The interior is in excellent condition and very well specified. The car has a fully electric hood in colour-matched dark blue, leather upholstery with heated front seats and burr walnut veneer inserts in the dashboard.
A very smart and usable example of what will surely become a classic 6-cylinder BMW convertible. Ready to go in every sense, whether it be continental touring or local, top-down cruising.
The car is currently Jersey registered and we can assist with (international) shipping and importation processes if required.
